Adidas Launches Southeast Asia Running Championship
03 March 2011, The Fort, Taguig City, Philippines – adidas, a global leader in running, launched its very own Running Championship across Southeast Asia for 2011 titled the adidas ‘King of the Road’ (KOTR). Held in five countries across the region, the adidas KOTR will culminate in an ultimate championship race in its first ever host country, the Philippines, on October 23, at the Bonifacio Global City, The Fort.
The race will make its regional debut in Thailand (May 15), Singapore (August 28), Indonesia (September 25), Malaysia (October 2), and the Philippines (October 23). It is aimed at bringing runners together from across the region as part of adidas’ commitment to the sport.
The event is open to participants across two categories – the ‘Closed’ category (Men/Women) is for local participants and the ‘Open’ category (Men/Women) is for international participants. The winner of each of the other four countries’ Closed categories (Men/Women) will qualify for an all-expense paid trip to compete in the adidas KOTR Southeast Asia Championship in host country Philippines on October 23, with the race commencing from popular running hub Bonifacio Global City, The Fort, in a bid to be crowned the adidas Southeast Asia ‘King of the Road 2011.’
Adidas KOTR, a race that has been held for over 10 years now, sports a new logo this year. KOTR will also feature a different theme each year, beginning with this year’s theme titled ‘Colours’. This is represented through the variety of different coloured adidas singlets participants will don, yet another first for KOTR this year. The multi-colour showcase is meant to demonstrate the vibrancy of the sports scene across Southeast Asia.
With a unique 16.8km route offered this year, the city race is targeted at everyone who likes to run –from the social runner, to the serious athlete.
Registration is online across all countries at the soon to be launched KOTR website.
